Island Wide Voting
The vote for Island Wide Voting clearly signals the electorate’s appetite for change. The IoD believe this appetite for change does not stop at the way we elect our deputies but also in the way our government is run. We now call on the States of Guernsey to look seriously at the machinery of government and to update the Harwood Report – a Harwood II. The report should also take into account the potential impact of island wide voting. The IoD also wishes to acknowledge the bold plans outlined by Paul Whitfield to rationalise and streamline the States of Guernsey. The IoD supports any moves which look to break down the silos within the States and to increase its efficiency.
