The Institute of Directors (IoD) is strongly supportive of the modernisation process being led by Paul Whitfield within the States of Guernsey. The process is looking to dramatically change the way the States of Guernsey delivers customer-centric processes and breaks down departmental silos.
In order to make these changes the States needs to replace its IT service infrastructure and we urge deputies to vote for the Future Digital Services investment (FDS).
We also note the additional benefits for Guernsey’s wider digital infrastructure and innovation economy as well as helping to drive broader economic diversification for the island. We see this as much-needed infrastructure spend which has fallen far behind the level needed to maintain our economy.
The spend needs to be considered in light of the long-term nature of the project, the direct and indirect benefits and the State’s commitment to spend 3% of GDP on infrastructure.
