The Guernsey branch of the Institute of Directors (IoD) has announced a number of new initiatives designed to support its members and business leaders over the coming weeks and months.
In response to the covid-19 situation and its impact on the economic health of the island, the IoD will be canvasing its membership and the wider business community. The committee hopes to understand the immediate impact of the pandemic on local organisations, what support businesses need and what they feel the mid to long-term challenges will be.
Results of this research will be shared with the States of Guernsey and other business groups to help shape their response and help to inform businesses’ own resilience plans.
The IoD will also host a weekly webinar focussing on supporting business leaders who are steering their organisations through challenging times. The webinar topics will be formed in response to the survey findings and will also include resilient leadership, leading through a crisis, wellbeing for leaders etc.
As well as a variety of guest speakers, IoD Vice-Chair Stretch Kontelj will share his insights on the macroeconomic picture, helping local directors to see beyond our local borders and learn from other countries and companies during the covid-19 pandemic.
Thirdly, the IoD will be launching a SoundBoard Programme, with a view to ‘match-making’ executives with experienced leaders to help give them additional support during this intensive and challenging period.
