The Guernsey branch of the Institute of Directors (IoD) has announced the ten finalists for the 2023 Guernsey IoD Leadership Shadowing Awards, taking place this Thursday.
Charlie Kasparis, Charlotte Duquemin, Leo Smith, Lexie Le Poidevin all from The Sixth Form Centre will join Amy Haines, Bella Duquemin and Tilly Collenette from The Ladies' College, along with Amélie Le Prevost, Dylan Kidd and Joshua Le Sauvage from Elizabeth College at this week's finals night.
The ten finalists will present in front of a panel of judges, which includes IoD Guernsey Chair, Glen Tonks and former Chair Wendy Dorey, Brooke Kenyon of Orchard PR) and Julia Martin from Source Recruitment, at the special evening organised by the scheme's main sponsor, KPMG. Other guests include the students' peers, parents, teachers and local business leaders.
The audience will also hear from a guest speaker – Paul Gurney, CEO and Founder of BecomingX, also kindly sponsored by KPMG.
The IoD's Leadership Shadowing Scheme has received huge support from the Guernsey business community, with over 50 students and leaders participating in 2023. Alongside sponsorship from KPMG, the scheme is also supported by Source Recruitment, Aztech Soccer and Orchard PR. The finalists have shadowed leaders from various organisations across a wide range of sectors from finance, accountancy, legal, through to government, medicine, media, marketing and utilities.
Linda Johnson, Advisory Partner at KPMG, said: "As always, the standard of presentations was incredibly high. We were impressed by the students' grasp of leadership principles and their observations and insights of good leadership in action.
"On behalf of the Shadowing scheme organisers Rob Jones, Karen Power and myself, we would like to thank everyone who has taken part and supported the scheme. We are looking forward to this Thursday's finals night and hearing from the finalists; I’m sure the judges will have some difficult choices to find a winner!"
