The next IoD Wednesday Webinar will examine how Guernsey’s economy can recover post the Covid-19 pandemic, using economic models to assess potential routes to stimulate the economy.
As the States of Guernsey have approved a loan to fund the island’s recovery and have just published a framework to exit lockdown, this webinar will assess the relative merits of investing in a number of different areas to help Guernsey’s economy recover over different time horizons.
Our next update is also timely as both the UK and Jersey have recently announced their frameworks for exiting lockdown, which differ slightly from Guernsey’s approach.
This webinar will reference the most recent IoD Guernsey survey, where members supported the States of Guernsey’s borrowing, in particular if it is deployed to support significant investment in infrastructure. The respondents also supported a re-opening of the schools and the re-starting of off-island travel. Martyn will discuss the impact of these different options and will assess what types of infrastructure investments could support the long-term sustainability of the economy.
