The Institute of Director’s (IoD) May breakfast seminar will focus on the Guernsey Housing Plan; speakers will include Environment & Infrastructure president Deputy Lindsay de Sausmarez.
Deputy de Sausmarez will give an overview of the Guernsey Housing Plan, explaining how the States of Guernsey is prioritising strategies and actions that will, among other outcomes, stimulate private market housing development to deliver the homes our island and our economy needs.
This will be followed by a panel that includes Deputy de Sausmarez, Victoria Oliver, President of Development and Planning Authority, and Charles McHugh, founder of Strategic Development Partnership and involved in Leales’ Yard development.
“In the IoD’s most recent member survey, housing was highlighted as a key concern of business leaders, in the short and long term, with 57% of respondents citing it as an important issue.
“Without affordable and appropriate housing, the island’s economic growth will suffer. We are very pleased to be able to provide a platform for government to update local directors and business leaders with the progress being made on the housing challenge.
“It is clear that the island needs to urgently stimulate new home supply, and we look forward to hearing the strategies that the Committee for the Environment & Infrastructure is prioritising as well as discussing innovative solutions and what we can learn from similar jurisdictions.
“We anticipate that this will be a popular event, and we hope to welcome representatives from the developer and construction sectors, as well as local business leaders and directors,” said Glen Tonks, Chair of the IoD in Guernsey.
